1. Modern English A

Today, in the presence of God,
we stand before family and friends to
unite our lives and our destinies together as
we enter into the Holy Covenant of Marriage.
We say to each other, "I betroth you to me forever in
everlasting faithfulness and integrity according to the laws of
Moses and Israel and the traditions of our people. I will cherish
you, nourish you, respect you, and honor you as the sons and
daughters of Israel have cherished, nourished, respected, and
honored their spouses throughout the ages. I vow to you that
you will be the most important person in my life and I will not
take your for granted. I will always be open to your viewpoints
and I will treasure the unique gifts that you bring to our union.
We will share our hopes and dreams, our joys and sorrows, our
triumphs and failures, supporting, comforting, and believing in
each other through it all. We will build a home together filled
with love, kindness, acceptance and mercy; a home filled with
joy and peace; a home filled with respect, not just for people
who share our views, but for all people. We will keep these
vows until death parts us for a time."
